It extensively covers the uses of each knot as well as detailed descriptions on how to tie them correctly and safely and also some history on the knots. The books author Jeff Jepson had made sure the book is laid out in a clear and concise fashion, making sure that the diagrams and illustrations are effective. All illustrations are by Bryan Kotwica.
