The Stihl moisture gauge is the perfect tool to tell you when your firewood is seasoned and ready for burning. This handheld device comes with two retractable prongs which are inserted into the wood and the moisture content is shown on the the LCD display.

Similar to previous model but cleverly having a captive points cover.
The battery compartment is accessed by a tiny Phillips head screw in order to free the battery circuit. For those of us without a comprehensive wotkshop this was a problem only just solved by a Christmas cracker screwdriver.
A simpler design would have a push/click ratchet like most other small battery compartments. Alternatively a key could be enclosed with the device.

Just what I needed, fits in my pocket……it’s not an industrial tool with hammer in pins but for the money it’s hard to beat.

Does the job. Does go off rather quickly but it isn’t the end of the world. So much for my log supplier saying the wood is Kiln dried!!
