Our square wooden fence post caps are high quality spruce (softwood) and we have 3 colours available: pressure treated green (tanalised), treated brown or untreated. They are available to fit onto either a 3 x 3 (75mm) or 4 x 4 (100mm) fence post, with a small decorative overlap around the 4 edges of the post. The cap will make a nice finishing touch the top of the fence line as well as serve the purpose of protecting the top of the post against ‘sitting water’ and eventual rot.
When installing fence post caps or finials onto the top of your fence post, it is always advisable to pre-drill a pilot hole before screwing the cap down. This will prevent the cap from splitting, a problem which can be particularly prevalent in hot weather when the timber may already have developed small cracks due to any moisture being drawn from the wood by the suns heat.
